Ingrown Toenails

What is it?

a procedure which involves removing the symptomatic portion of a nail and ensuring that it does not grow back.

Causes:

Ingrowing toenail: Poor nail cutting may result in a sharp edge or a ‘spike’ pressing against the sulcus. As the nail grows, the spike progresses to pierce the skin resulting in severe pain, inflammation and in many cases, infection
Involuted toenail: Some individuals naturally have rounder nails. In some cases, the nail presses against the sulcus resulting in an element of discomfort or pain
Repetitive or blunt trauma may result in a nail growing deformed and thickened.
